Suddenly, out of nowhere, a man appeared in the road, directly in front of her. She slammed on her brakes. The car swerved. Out of control, the Miata careened dangerously close to the edge of the road, toward the cliff.
Excerpt from The Trouble With Perfect

Morgan Blake is going to a book signing in a quaint little town, where she hopes to find some peace and quiet and get over her boyfriend, Tyler, and her writer’s block at the same time.

She finds Perfect, West Virginia and a whole lot of trouble. Deeply shaken from hitting a man who cries out for help, then runs, Morgan can’t find any pleasure in the lovely village.

She heard someone screaming in the night. The dent in her car disappeared. The sheriff thinks she imagined the whole thing.

On the up side, the wealthy, handsome Mayor is flirting with her. Her book signing went beautifully and, if she really is imagining things, then maybe that means she can write again.

Christy Barritt has written an eerie, little thriller with enough twists to fill a backwoods’ mountain road. She keeps the tension high and the characters fresh, which kept me turning the pages.

I emailed Christy about The Trouble with Perfect. She replied, “Once I started to write The Trouble with Perfect, I couldn't stop. The mystery pulled me in and I had to know what happened! Yes, sometimes it starts out as a mystery for the writer even! Writing the book was therapeutic for me in many regards. Tyler, one of the characters in the book, deals with issues that I've dealt with in the past concerning…hard circumstances and learning to work through them in order to come out stronger.”

The Trouble With Perfect was perfect, spooky fun. I rate it a Sleep Robber.
