The Angel and the Cross
By Sigmund Brouwer
902961: Angel and the Cross, Guardian Angel Series #3

Quinton, the son of a Roman legion commander, is betrayed by his beloved and trusted teacher. He is rescued by Shel, the daughter of the leader of a rebel band. With the encouragement of the angel, though always by their own choice, the two young people join forces. Sacred goblets, a talking donkey, fear, death…and that ever-present guardian angel, move Quinton toward an amazing event.

Sigmund Brouwer, the author of The Mars Diaries brings us Book 3 of “The Guardian Angel” series, a thought provoking supernatural adventure with the simple title of The Angel and the Cross. The other books in the series are The Angel and the Ring and The Angel and the Ring. Brouwer and his wife, Cindy Morgan, live in Alberta, Canada. They have two daughters.

The Angel and the Cross is described as juvenile fiction, but I found it fascinating. Pelagius’ “Angel Blog” caught my fancy. Imagine an angel pointing out via a web log, “I can’t control your choices.” He continues, “…humans are eternal creatures. Your time on earth is only the beginning, and it’s a great training where you can make choices that form your character and your soul.” Those words stand as good advice, whether from an angel or human.
