Title of Book: Elementary, My Dear Watkins By Mindy Starns Clark
BACK COVER: Sometimes, to move forward you have to move back. For the resourceful blonde with the high household IQ, everything’s off-kilter these days. With her health and her home already in question, Jo’s family—and her past—suddenly take center stage. An attempt is made on her life, forcing her former fiancé to sacrifice himself to save her. As his life hangs in the balance, Jo must learn what he was trying to tell her—and what family secrets are hidden within the walls of her grandmother’s mansion. Life is good for Danny. The woman of his dreams loves him back, and he’s finally moving forward in his photography career. It seems things couldn’t be better—until they take a turn for the worse. Is someone trying to interfere with Danny’s internship at Scene It? More importantly, how do his encounters in Europe tie in with the mystery absorbing Jo Tulip back at home in the States? Trapped an ocean apart, Jo and Danny try to figure out two sides of the same puzzle. As they long for answers—and for each other—they must learn to depend fully on God and the strength that only He provides. Love, adventure, and excitement abound in this satisfying final book of the Smart Chick Mystery series by the author of The Trouble with Tulip and Blind Dates Can be Murder. REVIEWER’S COMMENTS: Mindy Sterns Clark, author of Elementary My Dear Watkins, has given us another Smart Chick Mystery with good old Jo Tulip. Who knew Jo would continue to get herself into so much trouble. Clark kept me reading from page 5, the first e-mail that Trying to Stay Out of It sent, on through the last e-mail on page 311 that gives information about the author. Clark’s characters continue to live in my thoughts. Along with Jo and Danny, I fell in love with Mr. Bashire, and wanted to know more about Luc, Alexa and Jo’s grandmother. I even caught myself thinking about Bradford! Each of her characters left a bit of themselves behind as I closed the book. You might like to also read The Trouble with Tulip, and Blind Dates Can Be Murder, the other two books in this series. I’m disappointed to learn that this is the last “Smart Chick Mystery.” I’d like to talk Clark into changing her mind. I’m very fond of Jo and Danny. I recommend Elementary, My Dear Watkins, by Mindy Starns Clark to anyone who enjoys a combination of mystery and romance frosted with fun. .
