Title of Book: The Trouble With Tulip The Trouble with Tulip, A Smart Chick Mystery #1 Josephine Tulip lives alone in the house where she lived with her grandparents. She writes a helpful hints column and recently she has discovered her column may be read only by people of her grandparent’s generation. When, on the morning of her wedding, she’s called out to answer some questions about a body found at a house just down the street from her home, she finds herself in the midst of a mystery. Even a “smart chick” like Jo Tulip has trouble figuring this one out. She struggles with what she’s going to do with Chewy? And how he ended up in her life anyway? And she tries to figure out how her personal life could have gotten so off track. Danny Watkins, who lives across the fence from Jo Tulip, would really like to see his work in National Geographic, but to make ends meet he takes pictures of kids at a photo studio and of bodies for the local police. When Jo tells him she is convinced that a murder has been committed, Danny believes her. Together they set out to solve the mystery. Something else is going on between these two--something they and the Lord have to work out. They’ve been friends since they were kids. Only recently have they begun to realize there might be something more than friendship in their friendship. THE TROUBLE WITH TULIP by Mindy Starns Clark is part of a series called “A Smart Chick Mystery.” Previous novels by Clark are The Million Dollar Mysteries with clever titles like: A PENNY FOR YOUR THOUGHTS, DON’T TAKE ANY WOODEN NICKELS, and A QUARTER FOR A KISS. Clark lives with her husband and children in Valley Forge, Pennsylvania. Visit her website at www.mindystarnsclark.com. She says you might like to see a photo of the real Chewie. Harvest House Publishers continues to produce novels that can be enjoyed by Christian or non-Christian alike. THE TROUBLE WITH TULIP is a delightful mystery that is fun to read and gives us a look at a criminal mind that leaves the reader sympathetic and concerned. While I hope I never have to solve a mystery about the murder of a neighbor, if I do, I think I’ll use some of the MacGyver-like tips Jo Tulip used. And if they don’t work to solve the mystery, I’ll use them to make the sink sparkle or clean the cement in the carport. This reader looks forward to Clark’s next Smart Chick Mystery. |
