The pressure was on from as high up as the governor. Pressure to give anything a shot. Zoe Shelfford was the biggest “anything shot” he’d heard of.

A psychic?

She was the best, they said. Amazing, they said. Had found more than forty-seven children, they said.

He didn’t care much what they said.

A psychic? What kind of detective used a psychic? Not him.

Excerpt from Abduction

Zoe has a gift that tortures her. JJ doesn’t want anything to do with this gift, even if it helps him solve his case. When JJ is forced to bring psychic Zoe into a case with two missing children, his hostility doesn’t stop her from agreeing to help. What stops her is the neighbor who tells the frantic mother she can’t use a psychic because it’s demonic.

Zoe is stunned and hurt. She’s always considered her gift to be from God. JJ won’t let her help, even though he’s fascinated by the beautiful, vulnerable psychic. Karen won’t let her help. And meanwhile another child goes missing, and another.

Wanda Dyson played out this book as skillfully as any murder mystery I’ve read in a long time. The end amazed me because I didn’t see it coming, yet when it came I thought, of course!!! The strange twist of the neighbor insisting Zoe not use her gift left me on edge. Use your power, the baby is missing! But what if it is demonic? Could the torture Zoe goes through be the whole point; to keep Zoe’s life miserable? But even if she’s miserable, shouldn’t she still try and find that child?

I emailed Wanda Dyson and asked her if she’d ever met a real psychic. She said, "Have I ever met a real psychic? Yes. Are there fakes? You betcha. Tons of them. We've all seen extremely gifted writers, musicians, composers, speakers, painters, arts, etc that glorify themselves or glorify the enemy. But what about someone with strong gifts in words of wisdom, words of knowledge, and discernment who has never submitted those gifts to the Lord for His use? We call them psychics. And without being submitted to God, they are just putty in the hands of the enemy to use to glorify his kingdom, rather than God's."

Abduction is riveting as is the second book in the series, Obsession. It's a true, thriller of a Sleep Robber
