Title of Book: Storm Gathering Click on the title in order to purchase your copy or view product details. By Rene Gutteridge Rene Gutteridge returns to suspense in this prequel to the Splitting Storm. Aaron, straight arrow, good cop, committed Christian, has a brother who is nothing but trouble. When Mick wakes up hung over in the wrong woman’s apartment, and evidence suggests the missing woman might be dead, he is immediately the prime suspect. Aaron and Mick have spent a lifetime at each other’s throats. Mick is always the failure, always the disappointment. Now he needs Aaron and resents him at the same time. Even though he was too drunk to remember much, Mick doesn’t believe he killed anyone. And Mick, who barely knew the woman but had seen her vulnerability, is furious because no one seems to be searching for her. Mick keeps getting himself in deeper. Aaron is suspended from the case because of his brother’s involvement. A powerful man may be willing to kill to keep his relationship with the missing woman secret. An obsessive cop seems determined to hang the crime on Mick. And bubbling just under the surface is a mysterious stranger with a madman’s grudge who has a life and death agenda all his own. Gutteridge has yet to write a book I didn’t love. The earlier book in this series, The Splitting Storm was one of my favorite suspense novels last year and the end of Storm Gathering leaves plenty of room for another sequel. But her book Boo and its sequel Boo Who are flat out comedies no one should miss. Also Ghost Writer, Rene’s first book about a troubled marriage, is written with such venomous relish that I have to wonder who she was writing about. She seems to enjoy tormenting the unworthy husband just a little too much. I would trust Gutteridge with any book she wanted to write and anyone who talks about an author needing to pick a style and stick with it would be robbing us of all the talent Rene Gutteridge has at her fingertips. Storm Gathering is a fast, intense action drama that rates as a definite Sleep Robber. |
