Title of Book: Symphony of Secrets By Sharon Hinck BACK COVER: Talented flutist Amy Johnson's dreams come true when she wins a spot with the Minneapolis Symphony. But this amateur sleuth has trouble concentrating on the notes as she begins to see devious motives behind her fellow musicians' many mishaps. Meanwhile, her musically talented daughter wants to give it all up for--gasp--the cheerleading squad! What's a musical mom to do? Can Amy fine-tune her investigation before the symphony is forced to close and she loses not only her dream job but her promising new relationship with its conductor? REVIEWER’S COMMENTS: Amy Johnson is a single mother with big dreams of being a symphony musician. She lands her dream job but it's jeopardized by someone who is out to sabotage the concertmaster. Amy is an amateur sleuth and finds herself not only trying to unravel the mystery taking place at work but the mystery of the teenage mind, as well as the mystery of God and our place in this universe. There is humor on almost every page of this book as Amy struggles to understand the changes taking place in her daughter and ultimately in Amy herself. Sharon Hinck has created a story with a wonderful blend of mystery and humor with a small amount of romance thrown in. We can all empathize with Amy as she battles feelings of inadequacy and guilt over past choices. This book held me captive as I laughed over Amy's attempts to understand her daughter and solve the mystery of the symphony. It is a poignant story of love and forgiveness as Amy realizes she doesn't have to be good or perfect to come to God. He pursues us just as we are.
