REVIEWER’S COMMENTS: Through Every Storm is the beautiful and touching story of a couple dealing with the aftermath of the tragic loss of their only child. Jeff and Maddie are on the verge of divorce. They have moved so far away from each other that there seems to be no hope for a future together. In the midst of their problems enters an intelligent seven year old who can see what they are unable to regarding their relationship. Ms. MacLaren deals with an issue that many people must come to terms with after a tragedy. She shows how Maddie feels unworthy of love due to her feelings of guilt. Maddie feels as if she is undeserving of her husband's or God's love so she closes herself off to both of them. God patiently pursues Maddie and shows her that true love is not dependent on our goodness or our failures or successes. God loves us at any cost. As Maddie realizes this, she is able to slowly open up to her husband and begin the healing process. What a beautiful and moving story. The characters are so well developed that you feel as if they might live next door. This book is one you will find yourself reading til the early morning hours because you just can't put it down.
