By Nancy Moser

Claire Adams, a wealthy mosaic artist, gives it all up to follow God’s leading. While she is eager to share the details of her sacrifice with others, in order to hear their praise, she finds those others think she’s lost it; that she’s crazy. When she winds up in Steadfast, Kansas, she slams into the lives of a runaway named Sim and Merry Cavanaugh, the town’s librarian, a widow who’s dealing with her own pain. Into the mix flows a teenager named Jared, a man who speaks in “Shakespeare,” and Jared’s dad, Bailey. And then there is that mysterious library ghost everyone’s talking about.

In A STEADFAST SURRENDER, Nancy Moser asks piercing questions about living a life of simplicity, dealing with mourning, following dreams at the expense of others and rejection. She asks these questions in an entertaining, sometimes touching, sometimes humorous way that keeps the reader wondering what will happen next.

My first reaction to Claire Adams was negative. Claire wanted recognition for her decision to give up all her earthly belongings, her wealth and fame. I almost put the book down. But as I read on, I realized that all (at least some) of us deal with the same kind of desire for recognition. And like, Claire, we are just as surprised when those we tell about our “God moments” look at us like, and sometimes tell us, we’re crazy. A STEADFAST SURRENDER is a book I’ll keep on my shelf and pick up from time to time. It has a good message--one I need to read again.

Moser, her husband Mark, her three children, lives in Kansas. Other titles by this author are: The Seat Beside Me, The Invitation, The Quest and The Temptation.
