"I love this passage because it challenges me to run my own race in this life. Not someone else's, but the race that God has specifically designed for Tamera Alexander. I am to keep my eyes on Him, instead of the race someone else might be running beside me. It's so easy to let my focus drift, to start to want what the runner beside me has. Maybe their path appears smoother or more successful. Maybe their writing seems effortless while I'm over here struggling with every single word (of course, I don't see the cabinets they're kicking in the privacy of their own home ). Whatever the reason for my drifting focus, these verses in Hebrews call me back to keep my attention on the Source of my faith and to pursue the path of writing that God has for me."

It’s as if the Lord himself is going out of his way to tell me how passionately He loves me—that I am foremost on His mind. Knowing how much I love my children and that He loves me even more than a mother’s love for her child is hard to comprehend. We are all his favorite ones—something only the God of the universe, our creator, can accomplish.
